Job Description

The Senior Manager works closely with R&D leadership, Product Management, and Security Services (S2) to ensure teams build what customers and internal users need in a timely fashion and to a high standard of quality. They generate and manage day‑to‑day work for their teams, partner with Product to define and deliver on a six‑month roadmap, and serve as a key contributor to longer‑term planning and strategy with their director.

Responsibilities include managing one or more engineering teams that deliver high‑quality, innovative endpoint security software solutions in collaboration with architects, developers, product managers, Concierge Security Engineers, and support teams; supporting engineers by providing direction and clarity and removing obstacles; and driving execution of processes while being accountable for R&D outcomes. The Senior Manager instills Arctic Wolf’s R&D foundations, oversees the full software development life cycle, ensures teams follow ISMS regulations and secure coding practices, drives continuous improvement in engineering processes, and champions adoption of secure coding standards.

The role also covers engineering people‑management and financial responsibilities: conducting regular one‑on‑ones, managing employee compensation and vacation time, approving training and conference budgets, and contributing to directorate‑level budget planning and management. The Senior Manager leads recruitment for their teams (full‑time and co‑op), influences hiring strategy, and helps build a diverse, inclusive, high‑performing engineering organization focused on security, scalability, and reliability.

The ideal candidate is a technically curious, engineering‑minded problem solver comfortable with ambiguous and challenging issues, bringing 8+ years of experience in software development or a related role (or a master’s degree plus 5+ years in development management/engineering leadership). They have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field; background in networking, security, or distributed systems; multi‑platform OS experience (Windows, macOS, Linux); cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure); scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ruby); a strong ownership mindset; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Arctic Wolf offers a transparent base salary range, variable incentive compensation, new‑hire equity grants, and a comprehensive benefits package in a collaborative, inclusive culture built around diversity of thought, background, and culture.
